In April of 1991, Robert Capwell, our founder, had a dream to provide a customer service driven background-screening company in Northwestern PA. Previously employed within the screening industry, Mr. Capwell gained valuable knowledge and training at the Erie Regional Office of Equifax, Inc. As this information giant consolidated operations through many areas of the nation, it left a void in many local and regional markets for a local flavor and valuable customer service. Hence a dream became reality! CIS was founded with one primary goal in mind Customer Service. As our mantra gained steam so did our service area. In the early nineties CIS? provided screening services to the tri-state area, including Pennsylvania, New York and Ohio.
In October of 1991, Mr. Capwell met another potential industry leader. Quiktrak?, today one of the nations leading equipment inspection and auditing firms around the globe, was expanding its California based operations into the east. Although these two companies operate in very different industries they share the same need. A national network of well-trained and skilled inspectors to service their information needs. This consolidated network provided a national network of inspectors and opened the door to the west for CIS? to provide employment screening on a national level. Even today, these two companies share resources as alliance partners and share in the same basic principle of customer service.
In 1994 our corporate needs grew even further, CIS? moved its corporate headquarters from Erie to Pittsburgh, PA. With a diverse employee pool focused around the employment industry, CIS? gained additional staff, with a valuable knowledge base within our industry.
As our brand grew, so did our technology. In 1999 CIS? released its web based online tracking system, which provided clients with an up-to-the-minute status of screening and secured storage of background checks. Soon after, an online request system was also added to aid in the paperless process of requesting our services. In the late nineties a focus was also centered along the lines of compliance. With the amendments of the FCRA and other federal and state regulations centered around the screening industry, CIS? focused on educating our clients with ever changing laws and regulations. Statistical analysis has also been a main focus for our organization. CIS? provides an array of reports to track the effectiveness to the bottom line to our diverse group of clients.
Present
Currently, CIS? still holds our founding mission statement near and dear to our hearts. Now, with a diverse group of national and international clients, CIS? services clientele from retail, government, communications, healthcare, nuclear, education and non-profit organizations, including over one hundred industries alike. With a diverse customer base, CIS? has partnered with our customers to meet our common corporate goals both domestically and abroad.
In today's uncertain world of terrorism, CIS? is a major player in helping to secure our country¯s air travel. Our involvement in screening recruiting staff for the Transportation Security Administration provides a sense of patriotism and also security to our staff and our country. CIS? is committed to providing a safer place to work for all of the clientele we serve.
Another goal that we share with many clients is our passion for giving. Symbiosis™,
our philanthropic arm, is committed to making a significant impact on our community
and assist with environmental projects to preserve our natural resources. All
staff members are mandated to give at least four hours of their work schedule
to a charitable cause.
Technology is always a primary mission here at CIS?, with the release of hiretrak?, our workforce evaluation solution, we are armed with a hiring tool that is both paperless and web-based. Our goal is to qualify, assess, schedule and track applicants via our interactive voice response tool. Hiretrak? also tracks employee diversity to help meet EEO requirements and corporate culture goals. Hiretrak? is the only one of its kind in our industry and will become our flagship product for 2003.
We have recently moved into our new corporate building, which houses the technology
needs of our current and future infrastructure.
Future
Our number one focus will remain our Unparalleled Customer Service. As our industry continues to grow, CIS? understands that we will not be the only alternative in the industry. In the past five years, numerous start-ups have emerged offering instant access and cut-rate services. Since the beginning, our primary goal has been to protect the best interests of our clients. To this end, CIS? will always provide information in a readable and compliant format. CIS? will never sacrifice accuracy and quality to meet our time service objectives.
Client driven products and services will also be a continued focus. Through innovation, CIS? will continuously adapt to ever-changing corporate cultures and the way the world conducts business. Our future is only as bright as our talented and diverse staff. At CIS?, we are constantly looking for paperless solutions to increase the efficiency and quality of our products.
Our philanthropic efforts will also continue to drive the hearts and minds of
our staff. As our company grows, so will the commitment of our charitable efforts.
